Lily Ying is a paralegal at Smallbone Law. She graduated from the Nashville School of Law in Tennessee with a J.D. in 2023. 

Lily has more than five years of experience in immigration law, business law, civil litigation, and criminal law. She provides Chinese assistance to clients in need and handles all immigrant and non-immigrant visas, asylum and immigration court proceedings. Her specialties include EB1, NIW, O, P, H1B, and PERM, L1, E2, R, 601 waivers, and reliefs in the removal proceedings etc. In addition, Lily has strong legal research and writing abilities, actively assisting the Smallbone Law team with tracking the newest legal developments, drafting pleadings and legal memorandums for civil lawsuits and appellate briefs. 

Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Lily Ying studied at Fudan University in Shanghai for her bachelor’s and master's degrees, specializing in continental philosophy and the social justice theory of Karl Marx. In 2012, Lily came to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to further study western political philosophy with a focus on John Rawls's theory of justice and natural law jurisprudence. After earning a Ph.D. in philosophy in 2018, Lily transitioned to the legal career. 

In addition to busy work and studies, she loves reading, writing, traveling and watching movies. As a member of Smallbone Law, she enjoys the peace and joy from her daily work of pursuing knowledge, serving people, and helping others achieve themselves.
